The
Hazardous Substances Rapid Information System (GSA) is a component of
the GSBL which contains relevant chemical material data specifically for rescue services.
In 2014, a view designed especially for fire brigades, specialist
consultants and rescue services for display on PCs was developed in
cooperation with the IBK (Institut für Brand- und Katastrophenschutz,
based in Heyrothsberge).
The financing was carried out by the Bundesamt für Bevölkerungsschutz
und Katastrophenhilfe (BBK).
This
was the occasion for the UBA to commission the
development of a
mobile version specially tailored to the needs of firefighters. This
mobile version allows users to efficiently search offline for
information held on 16000 substances. GSAapp can be installed on
smartphones and tablets with the operating systems Android and iOS
(Apple). The app has been made available to emergency crews since
September 2014 and can be downloaded free of charge from the GSBL
Access Service page for registered and eligible users of the
cooperation partners.
The structure of the GSA app was
deliberately kept very simple and is limited to a few pages in order to
make it easy to use during response operations.
